Two years of Portland portraits on film

Two years ago today, I packed up everything I owned into my parent's Honda Fit and moved from Missoula, MT to Portland, OR. The move was a spur of the moment decision made a few weeks prior when I was visiting Portland on a particularly beautiful spring weekend. (Those false summer days will really convince you to uproot your entire life istg).

To celebrate my two year anniversary of living in Portland and my one year anniversary of being a full time freelancer, I'm offering a special for the month of May. Film photoshoots booked this month are only $250 - which is more than $100 off the regular rate.

If you book a film photoshoot by the end of May, you can redeem the shoot any time in 2024 or 2025. That means if you have a big event coming up this year or next and know you're going to want photos for it - now is a great time to jump on the deal. CLICK TO BOOK

Before moving to Portland, it had been years since I'd picked up a film camera. At the time I was still working as an in-house brand designer for mobile apps so I wasn't shooting super regularly. I was starting to take freelancing more seriously but was shooting entirely on digital. But something about being forced to go through every single thing you own and digging up old camera gear inspires you to get back to your roots.

The first year I was living in Portland and getting back into shooting film, I mostly explored the city and took lots of random neighborhood shots. But the more I shot, the more I started to incorporate film into one of my main service offerings as a freelance photographer.

Over the past year working as a full time freelance Portland photographer, I've shot more and more client work on film - and some of my favorite shoots have been the portraits on film.

Whether you need new headshots, creative portraits, branding or new business photos, product photos, engagement or love stories, birthdays, events - I've done it all and you deserve to have your life milestones captured on film. REACH OUT TO BOOK A SHOOT

PS - this would make a great gift ;) You can buy a film shoot for a friend, lover, family member, etc.

This lifestyle portrait session on film in Maryssa's home was one of the first shoots I did in this style, and is still one of my favorite shoots to date. I love the mix of candid portraits of Maryssa getting ready, mixed with a boudoir session on her iconic vintage couch.

I'm always down to photograph you in your homes - home sessions are some of my favorites because it's often where clients feel the most comfortable. They're also some of the best shoots for you to have for yourself to remember a particular chapter of your life by.

Plus you're going to want those photos of you and your pets.

These film portraits of Ana at New Wave Studio are some of my favorite film studio portrait work. Ana is such a versatile model and can serve up so many different looks in a single session. Awesome inspo for posing and prop work.  I've wanted to shoot with Ana since the first time we met (at a dark fantasy backyard wedding last fall), and I'm hopeful this will be the first shoot of many.

New Wave Studio is also an amazing Portland photoshoot location and I would love to do more sessions there for anyone looking for a clean studio aesthetic.

A classic dive bar film portrait shoot with Jordan last fall was another one of my favorite on-location photoshoots.

We shot at the iconic Sandy Hut with a mix of outdoor photos at their picnic tables plus indoor shots at the pool table.

The vibes were classic red tee + faded Levi's - perfect for playing pool and drinking beers at a dive bar. Would love to do more sets like this at photo-ready locations. I have ideas. Hit me up.
