Hey guys, quick q - are you heckin' kiddin' me with this brand photoshoot??
Sophia hit me up last year wanting more photo content for her brand BAD NUTRITION - which is turning diet culture on its head with these delicious and nutritious chia pudding cups.
Sophia found me through the brand photography for Gay Awakening - a local coffee brand here in Portland. She wanted a bold vibe - think 80s punk rock - colorful, editorial, bright flash. Yes yes yes.
Sophia showed up with the COOLEST wardrobe I've ever seen from any client. A lime green wig, floor-length Thule skirt, a beaded mask, long colorful gloves, a silver chain dress with a structured silver jacket to match. And that's just a small sample of what she had.
We put out a model call and ended up having so many amazing models to work with. Everyone showed up serving looks and energy. We were able to have the shoot at a local grocery store after hours so we had the whole place to ourselves which was a dream.
Like any good product shoot, I started by feeling a little overwhelmed, but the fits were fitting and Sophia had come up with some fire inspiration to help guide the creative direction. We quickly started figuring out some shots, pairing together models based on outfits and styling everyone with different props and accessories.
This was also my first time ever shooting with a fisheye lens. I was a little intimidated with the new gear especially since I picked it up right before the shoot and didn't have much time to test it out before we were up and running!
I love a photoshoot like this where the client comes to you with a really strong vision in mind and mood boards already started. We have several more shoots planned for this year and I cannot wait to work with the baddest brand in Portland again.
